Cosmin Olaroiu's winning start to life in the Chinese Super League continued on Friday evening as the Romanian led Jiangsu Suning to a 2-0 win over Guangzhou R&F.
Olaroiu was appointed just 10 days ago to replace Fabio Capello but has led the 2016 Chinese Super League runners-up to back-to-back wins thanks to goals from Huang Zhichang and Alex Teixeira.
"We know Eran Zahavi and Renatinho are both high-level players so, before the game, we worked on our tactics in training so that we would not give them too much space," said Olaroiu of R&F's star foreign pairing. "Today the players did a very good job in defence.
"In addition to the goals we scored, we had other chances to influence the game and I'm a very happy coach today.
"The most important thing is to look ahead and prepare for the net game so that we make progress. There is a long way to go in the league and we need to work through the games to come step by step. But I'd like to congratulate my players again, they were excellent today."
Huang put Jiangsu in front from close range three minutes into the second half before Teixeira claimed his fifth goal in five matches from the penalty spot on the hour mark to give Suning their third win of the season to move up to fifth.
The win moves them to within a point of Beijing Guoan after Roger Schmidt's side were held to a 1-1 draw by Tianjin Teda.
Jonathan Soriano scored from inside the area after seeing his initial attempt was saved by Du Jia 10 minutes into the game for Beijing.
But Frank Acheampong levelled for Tianjin just before the half-hour mark when he squeezed his shot under Hou Sen after latching onto Guo Hao's long ball forward.
League leaders Shanghai SIPG will seek to extend their perfect start to the season on Sunday when they take on Henan Jianye while defending champions Guangzhou Evergrande meet Shandong Luneng, with both teams level on nine points from their opening four games.
