Tottenham's Georges-Kevin Nkoudou joins Burnley on loan

Tottenham winger Georges-Kevin Nkoudou has joined Burnley on loan for the rest of the season.

Sources had earlier told ESPN FC that Spurs want the French winger, 22, to gain Premier League experience and the deal will not include the option to make the transfer permanent in the summer.

Nkoudou said he had spoken to Spurs teammate Kieran Trippier, who joined from Burnley in 2015, about life at Turf Moor.

""When I spoke with Trippier he told me good things about this club, about the players and everything about Burnley," he told Burnley's official website. "I am happy to be here, so thank you, Trippier.

"I think it's a big opportunity to play my first minutes this season in the Premier League. Everyone is shocked because Burnley is just after the big six. They have played very well.

"I watched the last game against Liverpool when they played very well and were unlucky. That's why I have come here, to find football."

Nkoudou said he hopes to develop under Burnley boss Sean Dyche.

"I knew he is a big manager who likes young players and players who go forward, so it suits my character to come here and I am happy to work with him," he said.

"I hope to help the club. If I can, I will. But the last word is with the manager. If he puts me on the pitch I will do everything to help the team go forward.

"I am ready to play and waiting on the starting blocks. If the manager puts me on the pitch I will to everything on the pitch."

Nkoudou joined Spurs from Ligue 1 club Marseille on a five-year deal in summer 2016 but he is yet to start a league game.

The former France under-21 international scored his first goal for the club in last month's 3-0 win over Apoel Nicosia in the Champions League.

Nkoudou's exit will allow Spurs to register Erik Lamela for the Champions League knockout stage at the start of next month after he was left out of the squad for the groups because the club had maxed their quota of overseas players.
