Who were Africa's star performers around the world this weekend?

Mohamed Salah: It seems as though anything Salah touches these days turns to gold. Not only did the Egypt international inspire the Pharaohs to their first World Cup since 1990, but he's firmly in the midst of a purple patch at Liverpool and his momentum shows no sign of slowing.

This weekend - reunited with fit-again Sadio Mane in Premier League action - he scored twice against Southampton to take his top flight tally to nine goals in 12 outings.

Added to his four in the Champions League to date, he has a whopping 15 goals in 20 appearances since signing for the Reds, and has fully vindicated Jurgen Klopp's decision to sign him.

His double this week saw him smash Robbie Fowler's record for goals scored in his first 12 Liverpool games, and the sky feels the limit for the North African maestro right now.

Albert Adomah: Another African who seemingly can't stop scoring right now is Aston Villa's Adomah.

Not typically known for his goalscoring, the Ghana international netted twice this weekend as the Villains came from behind to dispatch Queens Park Rangers 2-1 in Championship action.

The wideman stepped up to equalise from the penalty spot in first-half stoppage time before netting the winner - his seventh of the season -- early in the second period.

The former Middlesbrough man has already eclipsed his goal tallies for each of the last three seasons, and in this star-studded Villa side, he's proving to be the unlikely catalyst for their charge up the table.

Emmanuel Adebayor: One of the most eye-catching results of the weekend came in the Super Lig, where Istanbul Basaksehir smashed their illustrious local rivals Galatasaray 5-1 in an Istanbul derby.

While there were star performers across the park for the hosts, special credit must go to Adebayor, who rolled back the years to net a hat-trick during a superb display.

The Togo forward doubled Basaksehir's lead in the 42nd minute after Ghana's Joseph Attamah broke the deadlock, and ended the contest having scored seven in 11 so far this season.

Hakim Ziyech: One of the few results across Europe that may even have upstaged Istanbul Basaksehir's thumping victory came in the Eredivisie, where Ajax eviscerated NAC Breda 8-0 during a remarkable show of strength.

One of Africa's emerging talents, Ziyech may not have found the net, but he reaffirmed his status as one of the continent's most accomplished creators with a creative masterclass in midfield.

Beyond his two assists, he created seven chances for his teammates, took 121 touches - more than double any player on the hosts' side - and completed six dribbles.

It was a simply sensational midfield display from the Morocco international.

Willy Boly: As the Ivory Coast look to pick themselves up from their failure to reach the World Cup, one player they might turn to is Wolves centre-back Boly.

Currently on loan in the Midlands from FC Porto, the 26-year-old former France youth international has adapted to life in England with ease, with his powerful frame making him an ideal Championship defender.

This weekend, he excelled once again as the Old Gold won 2-0 away at Reading, with Boly making five tackles and five interceptions during the match - comfortably more decisive defensive contributions than any other player on the park.

Wolves sit two points clear at the top of the second tier and, having played his part in four consecutive clean sheets, expect Boly to ensure their unblemished run continues a little longer.
