Timmy Chandler out for rest of 2017 after undergoing knee surgery

FRANKFURT, Germany -- Eintracht Frankfurt defender Timmy Chandler has been ruled out for the rest of 2017 after undergoing surgery for his knee injury on Wednesday.

The club revealed that the American right-back twisted his knee in the first half of the side's 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga on Saturday. He was later diagnosed with a tear in his lateral meniscus.

Frankfurt said: "The 27-year-old underwent a successful operation and is expected to be sidelined for approximately two months."

Chandler, who has made 29 appearances for the U.S., had played every minute in every competitive game for Frankfurt this term until he went off with the injury in the 37th minute on Saturday.

Last season he missed only two of 40 games for the side.
