Colombian midfielder Mateus Uribe arrived in Mexico City on Wednesday to complete his move to Club America and wasted no time calling them Liga MX's "biggest club."
The 26-year-old Colombia international moves from Atletico Nacional after a protracted transfer saga in which fellow Liga MX club Tigres were also strongly linked.
"From the first moment, America showed interest in me, the happiness of coming to Mexico's biggest club was great," Uribe told reporters upon arriving at the airport, adding that he is fully aware of what Club America represents in the Mexican game.
"Coming to Mexico is something really important and even more so to arrive at America, it is a dream every player has," added Uribe. "I hope I'm at the level of what America represents."
Uribe admitted that in the future he would like to play in Europe, but knows that will only come through performing well for his new club under coach Miguel Herrera.
The midfielder was training on his own in Colombia as he waited for the transfer to Mexico to be complete, meaning Uribe is is unlikely to be risked in Club America's derby on Saturday against Pumas.
