Montpellier have issued a statement denying reports in the French media that they've already received offers for Algeria playmaker Ryad Boudebouz, who's been heavily linked with a move away from Ligue 1 this window.

27-year-old Boudebouz was Montpellier's outstanding player during a testing campaign last term, scoring 11 goals and registering nine assists as MHSC evaded relegation to finish in 15th place.

He's subsequently been linked with a move away from the club with summer, with a recent report by France Football [as per L'Equipe] stating that West Ham United, Sevilla and Besiktas have all been put off making an offer for his services due to Montpellier's asking price.

However, in an official club statement released on their Facebook page, Montpellier have responded directly to the article and confirmed that they're yet to receive any offers for the international midfielder.

"In light of an article titled 'Ryad Boudebouz: An unaffordable transfer' which appeared on francefootball.fr and was covered by lequipe.fr, the club must clarify that MHSC have not received any offer from a club concerning the transfer of Ryad Boudebouz," the statement began.

"Consequently, MHSC have not therefore been able to refuse offers, nor even enter into negotiations on the basis of a minimum price of €15 million as was implied in the article.

"An agent has been authorised by the club for the sale of Ryad Boudebouz, who has been given the opportunity to leave," the statement continued.

"The sale of [Benin striker] Steve Mounie [to Huddersfield Town] last month is an additional argument not to sell off a player whose performances over the last two seasons have been more than satisfactory and who has always been there when called upon."

Former Sochaux man Boudebouz, who has also been linked with a move to newly promoted Newcastle United, is set to be absent until mid-August with a knee injury.
