Sivasspor have completed the signing of Nigeria international Elderson Echiejile, who joins the Super Lig side on a one-year loan deal from AS Monaco.

The left-back spent last season on loan at Standard Liege and Sporting Gijon, but struggled to make an impact at either club and has again been deemed surplus to requirements at Monaco.

Despite the transfer speculation surrounding the futures of the Ligue 1 champions' full-backs Benjamin Mendy and Djibril Sidibe, coach Leonardo Jardim has opted to offload Echiejile, with the Turkish side confirming the move on their official Twitter handle.

The defender also expressed his delight at the move on social media.

"New beginnings," he wrote on his @eldersonech handle. "Happy to be part of the team."

The 29-year-old began his senior career with Bendel Insurance in his home town before moving to Stade Rennais in 2007.

He subsequently moved onto Portuguese side SC Braga, where he won the Taca da Liga in 2013, and was signed by Monaco in 2014.

The wideman was part of the Nigeria side that won the African Cup of Nations in 2013, but missed out on the World Cup a year later after suffering an injury in a pre-tournament friendly against Greece.
