New Alaves signing Enzo Zidane says he hopes to make a name for himself at the club after completing a move from Real Madrid, where his father Zinedine is first-team coach.
Enzo, 22, joined Madrid's youth system when Zidane was still a player at the Santiago Bernabeu, played under his father in the club's Castilla B team and made his only senior appearance when scoring in a 6-1 Copa del Rey win over third-tier Cultural Leonesa last November.
The former France under-19 international was accompanied by his mother Veronique at his presentation at Mendizorrotza on Monday evening, and told the subsequent news conference that he is now just focused on making the most of his own career.
"There have always been comparisons, I am used to that, and do not think much about it," Enzo said. "My father is my father. I am Enzo. We play in the same position, but I have my own way of playing.
"I think about playing, working hard, improving every day. I am a player with technical quality and a vision of play, for the team above all. I like to make the team play well. I will do the most possible so that we all have a great year together."
Enzo said there had been no doubts about leaving Madrid for a new challenge at Alaves, who made the Copa del Rey final last season on their return to La Liga.
"Alaves is a club with a project that from the start I have liked a lot, very serious, with a big future," Enzo said. "A team which had an incredible season last year, reaching the Copa del Rey final. They have gone for young players. From the start I felt happy with all the people here. Among all the options I had it was the best for me. There were no doubts from the start."
Enzo said he had taken advice from ex-Castilla teammate Marcos Llorente, who impressed on loan at Alaves last season, and is expected to have a senior squad place at Madrid for the 2017-18 campaign.
"Marcos is good friend of mine, and spoke very well about everything here," he said. "He told me about the season he had, and the spectacular fans. It was all incredible for him. He told me not to have any doubts. His opinion was important for me."
The undisclosed deal which took Enzo from Madrid to the Basque club is said to include a buy-back clause.
"For the moment I do not think about that, but about doing great things for Alaves," he said.
