Slovakia's prime minister wants UEFA to investigate Euro U21 exit

The prime minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, has called on UEFA to investigate his country's elimination at the group stage of the European Under-21 Championship.

His call came after Italy beat Germany 1-0 -- the only result that could have sent both teams through.

Both Italy and Germany have denied that there was any collusion, but Fico has written to UEFA and said: "I believe that you will have the whole issue investigated and UEFA will make rules for the next tournament which will give precedence to a sportsmanlike performance instead of unfair agreements.

"It is disrespectful towards the athletes themselves, fans and also the countries they represent."

Slovakia coach Pavel Hapal had also criticised both Italy and Germany, but Italy counterpart Luigi Di Biagio said any allegations of collusion were "ridiculous."
