Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have joined the chase for Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson, sources close to the player have told ESPN FC.
Chelsea and Manchester City have been strongly linked with the centre-half in recent weeks, but both Spurs and the Anfield club have now joined the hunt.
Gibson has impressed for Middlesbrough this season and helped them, despite their Premier League struggles, to the fifth-best defensive record in the top flight.
The 24-year-old was rewarded with a first call-up to the England squad for the win over Lithuania, but did not play.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is looking to add to his defensive options, having had to use midfielder Eric Dier in central defence in the absence of either Jan Vertonghen or Toby Alderweireld.
Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp has also been keeping tabs on Gibson, and Boro seem likely to lose the academy product if they suffer relegation from the Premier League.
