Nicolas Anelka has agreed to act in a consultancy role for Roda JC, the Eredivisie club have confirmed.
Anelka, 37, played for Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and Juventus among others during a lengthy playing career in which he won the Premier League, Champions League and Serie A.
Roda announced their deal with Anelka as part of an agreement with new co-owner Aleksei Korotaev and said the Frenchman "will focus on the football academy" and "also work as a consultant on the French market."
As a result the club have already signed 21-year-old winger Lyes Houri on loan from Bastia.
Although Anelka has not officially announced his retirement he has been a free agent since leaving Mumbai City in 2015.
Roda are currently second bottom of the 18-team Eredivisie but just two points behind Sparta in 13th place.
