Finland international midfielder Alexander Ring is set to complete a move to New York City FC from 2. Bundesliga side Kaiserslautern, according to German outlet kicker.
Ring, 25, has spent parts of the last four seasons with the Red Devils, making 83 league and cup appearances, scoring eight goals.
Injuries have limited his availability to just 11 league and cup appearances this season. He has also spent time with Bundesliga side Borussia Moenchengladbach as well as Finnish clubs HJK Helsinki, Tampere United, and Klubi-04.
At the international level, Ring has made 41 appearances, scoring once.
Ring has played a variety of midfield positions over the course of his career. His matches with Finland have seen him play primarily on the right side of midfield, while with Kaiserslautern most of his performances have seen him split time between a holding role and the right side.
With New York, Ring would most likely slide into a central role given the retirement of Andoni Iraola and the departures of Frank Lampard and Federico Bravo.
