Crystal Palace are weighing up a move for former Juventus defender Martin Caceres, sources close to the club have told ESPN FC.
Caceres is still a free agent after leaving Juventus last summer when his contract expired.
A number of clubs have been linked with Caceres since last summer, but the Uruguayan has not taken up any of the offers available to him.
The 29-year-old is now keen to fix himself up with a new club, and Palace are ready to offer him the chance to play in the Premier League.
Palace boss Sam Allardyce is desperate to strengthen his defensive options as he has yet to win a Premier League game since taking over at Selhurst Park.
Allardyce sees Caceres as a key addition to his side for the remainder of the season as he can play anywhere across the back line and he boasts a wealth of experience.
The former Barcelona man is now set to link up with Palace for training so that Allardyce can assess his fitness levels before deciding whether to offer him a short-term deal at the club.
