Arsenal's woeful away run extended to seven consecutive defeats in the league as Arsene Wenger's penultimate match ended in a 3-1 loss at Leicester City.
Kelechi Iheanacho put Leicester in front after just 14 minutes and things got worse for Arsenal inside 60 seconds when Konstantinos Mavropanos was rather harshly red carded for a professional foul.
Arsenal were completely overrun as Leicester surged forward in the first half but despite having 10 men they struck back on 53 minutes when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored at the second attempt for his ninth goal in Arsenal colours.
But Arsenal's remarkably incompetent run on the road continued when Henrikh Mkhitaryan fouled Demarai Gray in the box on 74 minutes, with Jamie Vardy hammering an unstoppable penalty home. Riyad Mahrez made the points safe late on with a third for Leicester.
Positives
The next Arsenal manager will have a top-class finisher to build his team around with Aubameyang continuing his prolific form. Arsenal can also be encouraged by a purposeful performance from Ainsley Maitland-Niles at right-back.
It is also fortunate that this match was completely inconsequential with Arsenal guaranteed to finish sixth.
Negatives
The disastrous away form continued and fixing it will be a top priority for the new manager. The defensive unit continues to look shaky and seeing Mavropanos' encouraging early form halted by a red card was unfortunate.

4 -- Wenger has completely lost the plot in away matches and even if it doesn't really matter anymore, it's still a disappointing way for him to go out. You couldn't fault the selection: more the lack of an effective game plan and any effective resistance to Leicester's attacks in a one-sided first half.

GK Petr Cech, 6 -- Would have been disappointed to concede three times despite making a smattering of saves.
DF Ainsley Maitland-Niles, 7 -- The youngster was a sparky presence early on but looked lost when Fousseni Diabate headed back for Iheanacho to score. Still, he played a vital role in the equaliser with his run.
DF Rob Holding, 5 -- Looked a bit nervy in the face of some sustained attacking from Leicester in the first half. Was far from convincing and was done far too easily by Mahrez for the third.
DF Konstantinos Mavropanos, 4 -- Had a disastrous evening when he saw red early on. It was his poor touch which allowed Iheanacho in but a dismissal seemed harsh when there was a covering defender as he pulled the striker down.
DF Sead Kolasinac, 6 -- Used his strength to try and keep Mahrez quiet but contributed to an uncertain Arsenal rearguard action. Hit the post at the start of the first half.
MF Granit Xhaka, 5 -- Wasn't seeing enough of the ball in the first half and offered little protection to his defence either. Not his night.
MF Aaron Ramsey, 5 -- Nothing really worked for him in the first half and the frustration continued on 71 minutes when he led a dangerous break but got a bad pass from Mkhitaryan when in space in the box. Could have contributed more.
MF Alex Iwobi, 6 -- Looked full of confidence at the start as he tested Eldin Jakupovic, but his influence waned.
FW Danny Welbeck, 6 -- Barely had time to influence the game before he was taken off following the Mavropanos red card, with Shkodran Mustafi on in his place.
FW Henrikh Mkhitaryan, 5 -- Was responsible for most of Arsenal's best moments in the first half with some imaginative passes and was denied by a smart save on 34 minutes. Continued to influence the game in the second half -- but gave away a sloppy penalty when fouling Gray.
FW Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, 6 -- Was having a quiet evening until he scored his ninth goal for Arsenal, beating Jakupovic at the second attempt after latching onto a cross from Maitland-Niles.
Substitutes
DF Shkodran Mustafi (for Welbeck, 19), 5 -- Made a crucial intervention when he cleared off the line from Diabate on 48 minutes but looked shaky otherwise.
FW Eddie Nketiah (for Iwobi, 84), N/R -- Had little time to make his mark.
