Lukas Podolski is planning for a life beyond professional football having opened a new business venture in his hometown of Cologne.
The former Arsenal striker has launched a new kebab restaurant in the trendy Chlodwigplatz district to add to the clothing store and the ice cream parlour he already has in his business portfolio.
Indeed, Mangal Doner drew almost 1,000 hungry fans to its launch event on Saturday with people queuing around the block to sample the meaty treats on offer.

Poldi's kebabs aren't exactly cheap at €4.50 a pop but they are of a high quality according to the diligent research carried out by 11 Freunde.
Consumers are given a "generous portion" with "wonderfully spiced" doner meat and a deliciously minty tomato-cucumber salad as garnish.
"Other folks head to the golfing course after training, and just hang around there all-day long. I sell ice cream, Kebab and clothing, have fun and everyone can take something home," Podolski told the German magazine.
"I one hundred percent back this project, and will help where I can help. I want to continue developing this project. I always put my foot to the floor!"
