Crystal Palace are in talks to sign Brazilian attacking midfielder Lucas Lima from Santos, sources close to the club have told ESPN FC.
Lima, 26, is regarded highly in Brazil after impressing for Santos and he is tipped to become a regular fixture in Brazil national team in the near future.
Palace had initially enquired about taking Lima on loan, but Santos would prefer to sell the player.
Sources have told ESPN that Lima is keen on a move to the Premier League despite attracting interest from other teams in Spain and China.
Palace have money to spend after selling Yannick Bolasie to Everton earlier this month and Pardew is hopeful of luring Lima to Selhurst Park before the close of the transfer window.
The Eagles are yet to win in three Premier League games this season and have only scored one goal in the process.
