Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed that West Ham want to sign winger Rachid Ghezzal.
L'Equipe reported on Wednesday that the Hammers had made an initial offer of €8 million for the Algeria international.
Everton are also credited with an interest in Ghezzal, 24, who scored eight goals in Ligue 1 last season and assisted on seven more.
Ghezzal's contract with Lyon expires in a year's time, but Aulas expects the player to sign a new deal after helping his team to finish second in Ligue 1 last season.
"He wants me to talk with his advisors and so I'm going to call them this week to try to break the deadlock," Aulas told L'Equipe.
"I like Rachid a lot. It would be really good if we might be able to reach an agreement.
"We have received offers for him, including the one from West Ham.
"I know that Rachid doesn't want to leave Lyon so we have to find an agreement so as not to remain in a situation that's not good for either of the two parties involved."
