Things change in the blink of an eye in football. The Football Whispers Index takes the latest transfer rumours and gives them a score out of five; the higher the score, the more realistic and reliable the whisper.
Here are today's top five emerging whispers for the summer. And keep an eye on Transfer Talk for all the latest gossip.
Mario Balotelli - Nice to Borussia Dortmund
Balotelli's agent Mino Raiola claims the ex-Liverpool striker will move to Dortmund for next season. Raiola was spotted at BVB's headquarters in Germany and was asked if there was a possibility that the Italian striker would be arriving.
"Yes," he told Bild. "Balotelli will play for Dortmund." It could all be smoke and mirrors, with rumours Raiola was there to talk about a youth target. But there is no smoke without fire and it could signal that the Nice forward is set to leave this summer.
Fabinho - Monaco to Manchester United
Manchester United are favourites to land Monaco full-back Fabinho. It is understood the Brazilian was keen on signing for Atletico Madrid but the decision to uphold the Spanish club's transfer ban has ended those plans.
The 23-year-old, who is believed to be a Manchester City target too, can play at right-back or central midfield. United boss Jose Mourinho sees him as the perfect addition in the middle of the park alongside Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera, as well as providing cover for Antonio Valencia.
Willy Caballero - Manchester City to Chelsea
Caballero has enjoyed a break in New York with his family since being released by Manchester City. Now he appears to have a straight decision to make between newly promoted Newcastle United and champions Chelsea.
With Asmir Begovic's move to Bournemouth leaving a hole in Antonio Conte's squad, the former Malaga keeper would provide cover for Real Madrid transfer target Thibaut Courtois.
Stefan de Vrij - Lazio to Liverpool
Jurgen Klopp's side need to look at centre-back alternatives after the Virgil van Dijk fiasco. Dutch defender De Vrij, valued at £26.4 million, has emerged as the next target.
The Reds have reportedly made a bid of around £17.2m for the 25-year-old, short of where the Rome club value him, but there is a deal to be done for the highly rated Netherlands international.
Faouzi Ghoulam - Napoli to Liverpool
As well as needing a centre-back, Liverpool are also looking to add a left-back to their squad. James Milner deputised for the out-of-favour Alberto Moreno impressively last season but there is a need to have someone in that role who is a natural. Algerian international Ghoulam, who can also play further forward, featured in 38 games in all competitions last season, all at left-back. Napoli are looking for around £17m for the defender and will face competition from West Brom for his signature.
