Borussia Monchengladbach sign Christoph Kramer from Leverkusen

Borussia Monchengladbach have signed Christoph Kramer from Bayer Leverkusen on a five-year deal.

Kramer, 25, spent two seasons on loan at Gladbach between 2013 and 2015 and has now returned to the club permanently after completing a medical on Wednesday.

Gladbach confirmed the move later in the day and sporting director Max Eberl spoke of his excitement at bringing the Germany international back to Borussia-Park.

"We unfortunately had to allow Christoph to return to Leverkusen a year ago and are now even more delighted that we can bring him back to Borussia," Eberl told the club's official website.

"He knows our team, he knows the club and, with his experience and personality, he will play an important role in our young team."

Kramer, who made 73 appearances for Gladbach during his loan spell at the club, will wear the No. 6 shirt.

The midfielder helped Leverkusen to third place in the Bundesliga last season, while he was part of Germany's triumphant 2014 World Cup squad.

Gladbach have moved swiftly after selling fellow midfielder Granit Xhaka to Arsenal last month.
