Espanyol's current No. 1 Pau Lopez has dismissed rumours the Barcelona-city club are interested in signing former Barca goalkeeper and current Manchester United outcast Victor Valdes.
Valdes is sure to leave Old Trafford in the January transfer window, with his relationship with United manager Louis van Gaal having deteriorated completely.
The 33-year-old, three-time Champions League winner has been linked with many different clubs through recent months, including Besiktas, Sevilla and Newcastle, with speculation this week talking of a potential return to the Catalan capital to join Espanyol.
Last season's first choice Espanyol goalkeeper was Kiko Casilla, who joined Real Madrid last summer, meaning 20-year-old Pau Lopez has become first choice this year -- with 23-year-old Italian Francesco Bardi as back-up.
However there was nothing to the reports of Valdes coming to the club, Pau told a news conference.
"This is just media talk," Pau said. "In the goals, we have Bardi and myself. We know the club trusts in us. I have nothing else to say."
