Sunderland have completed the signing of Sweden international Ola Toivonen, who moves from Ligue 1 side Rennes on loan for 2015-16.
Toivonen, 29, joined Rennes in January last year for €2.5 million after five successful seasons in the Eredivisie with PSV Eindhoven, scoring 61 goals in 139 league games and winning the Dutch Cup in 2012.
Black Cats manager Dick Advocaat managed the attacking midfielder, who has won 40 caps for Sweden, when he was in charge of PSV for the 2012-13 season, and has now lured him to Wearside.

Advocaat told the club's official website: "I worked with Ola at PSV so I know him well. He is a national team player with a lot of experience, an attacking midfielder who can score goals and is good in the air -- he will bring something different to the team."
He scored 14 goals in 46 appearances for Rennes.
