The Football Association has written to Leicester boss Nigel Pearson to remind him of his responsibilities after an incident with Crystal Palace midfielder James McArthur on Saturday.

Pearson appeared to grab McArthur around the throat during Palace's 1-0 win at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.

The Press Association reported that, although the letter had been written, the FA is not going to be taking any further action.

Pearson insisted the incident had been "light-hearted." It happened the day before reports -- denied by Leicester -- claimed that he had been sacked.

McArthur, who almost joined Leicester when leaving Wigan last summer, collided with Pearson on the touchline before he manager appeared to pin him to the ground by the throat.

But the Foxes boss said: "The lad's okay, and it was very light-hearted. He has said that too. It was all very light-hearted, if you see the pictures it was with smiles."

Former Leicester star Gary Lineker, now the BBC Match of the Day presenter, claimed that Pearson had been sacked by one member of the Srivaddhanaprabha family, who own the club, before being reinstated by another.

Pearson accused pundits on the show of "making a mountain out of a molehill" after the incident, sarcastically describing them as "fountains of knowledge."

The Midlands club, guided to the Championship title by Pearson last season, are bottom of the Premier League and four points adrift of safety.
