Martin Odegaard's father is also joining Real Madrid as part of the deal which has seen the Norwegian starlet move to the Bernabeu.
Odegaard, who just recently turned 16 but is already a senior international with his country, finally chose to join Madrid after being courted through recent months by a long list of Europe's top clubs reportedly including Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Southampton and Ajax.
A deal which could reportedly end up worth eight million euros was finally agreed with the player, his father and former club Stromsgodset, with the youngster being presented at the Bernabeu on Thursday.
Speaking at that event Madrid's director of institutional relations Emilio Butragueno confirmed that Hans Erik Odegaard would be also be joining Los Blancos as a youth coach.
"[Odegaard senior] is an ex-player and now he is a very qualified coach," Butragueno said. "He will fit into the technical structure of the club, in the youth set-up."
Hans Erik Odegaard, 41, was also a midfielder and played for over a decade in the Norwegian first division, mostly for Stromsgodset, before retiring in 2006. He was subsequently an assistant coach at second-tier club Mjondalen, while also closely overseeing his son's development to date.
Odegaard Jr. is to now train with Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Sergio Ramos and company in Madrid's first team, while playing under coach Zinedine Zidane for the Castilla second side in Spain's third-tier. Where his father will fit into the backroom set-up at the club's Valdebebas training ground has yet to be confirmed.
