Harry Kane stays hot with brace in Bayern rout of Pafos

Harry Kane continued his red-hot form with a first-half double as Bayern Munich thrashed Cypriot champions Pafos 5-1 in the Champions League.

The England captain, who made it 100 goals for the German champions with a brace in Friday's 4-0 Bundesliga win over Werder Bremen, took his club tally for the season to 17 with two clinical finishes in Limassol.

Raphaël Guerreiro claimed Bayern's second of the evening and Nicolas Jackson added a third with his first goal for the club before a second-half strike from the impressive Michael Olise completed the scoring.

Pafos winger Mislav Orsic scored arguably the goal of the game, lashing home from distance to make it 4-1 and give the outclassed hosts something to celebrate.

Bayern, who easily maintained their 100 percent record this campaign, also squandered a host of chances to make the scoreline even more emphatic.

Vincent Kompany's side launched their European challenge with a 3-1 win over Chelsea just under a fortnight ago and were quickly on course for a second successive win in the competition.

Kane struck the left post with an improvised attempt in the ninth minute before opening the scoring six minutes later.

Olise was the provider, slipping the ball into the 18-yard box for former Tottenham striker Kane to find the bottom left corner with a fine first-time finish.

Pafos, whose starting XI included former Chelsea and Arsenal defender David Luiz, fell further behind in the 20th minute when Guerreiro lifted the ball over goalkeeper Neofytos Michail following a delightful one-two with Jackson.

Chelsea loanee Jackson fired into the bottom left corner in the 31st minute to extend the lead after more good work from the lively Olise.

Kane bundled his way into the area to finish through the legs of Michail just three minutes later before the hosts pulled a goal back in spectacular style in the closing moments of the half when ex-Southampton winger Orsic unleashed a dipping effort into the top right corner from distance.

Pafos, who registered a 0-0 draw away to Olympiacos on matchday one, could have pulled another goal back early in the second period, but a header from captain David Goldar was blocked by teammate Jajá.

Bayern's Joshua Kimmich somehow headed wide with the goal gaping in the 58th minute after Aleksandar Pavlovic's initial shot was saved by Michail before Kane was withdrawn.

Olise made no mistake on the rebound in the 68th minute, firing into the roof of the net after Jackson was denied when clean through.

Substitute Serge Gnabry and Jackson each hit the left post in the final minutes, but it mattered little as dominant Bayern made it nine wins in a row this term.
