Jess Park stars as Man United beat Brighton

The returning Jess Park starred as Manchester United claimed a 3-2 victory over Brighton in the Women's Super League.

The former Manchester City midfielder was fit again following concussion and ran the show at Broadfield Stadium, scoring the second goal and creating the third for Lisa Naalsund.

Elisabeth Terland had opened the scoring for United just before half-time while Fran Kirby pulled one back and a frantic finish saw Naalsund add a third before Kiko Seike gave Brighton hope again.

Brighton began brightly but United grew into the game and Park created an opening for Ella Toone, who was denied by an expertly-timed block by Moeka Minami.

Park then set up Terland for a shot from a tight angle that flew past the far post, while at the other end Jelena Cankovic sent in a powerful shot that was straight at Phallon Tullis-Joyce.

Chiamaka Nnadozie was called into action in the 40th minute when Toone met Terland's cross with a sharp half volley that the Brighton keeper saved before pouncing on the loose ball as Toone looked to convert the rebound.

But Nnadozie was beaten in the 45th minute as Toone poked the ball through for Terland, who found the bottom corner.

Brighton players appealed strongly for offside but a touch on Toone's pass looked to come from defender Moeka Minami rather than Julia Zigiotti Olme.

United doubled their advantage 13 minutes into the second half through the excellent Park.

She picked up the ball on the right, played it to Toone in the box who did well to supply Park with the return, and the England midfielder sent a first-time effort unerringly into the corner.

But Brighton kept pressing and got their reward in the 69th minute, Marisa Olislagers playing a fine through ball for Kirby, who slotted it past Tullis-Joyce.

United pushed for a third and, after Nnadozie pushed Terland's header over the bar, Park teed up Naalsund for rare goal in the 89th minute.

There was still time for Brighton to score a second, a mistake by Maya Le Tissier allowing Seike to nip and lift the ball over Tullis-Joyce, but they could not find an equaliser.
