Manchester City earned their first win of the Women's Super League season after coming from behind in the second half to beat Brighton 2-1 at Joie Stadium.

Goals from Khadija Shaw and Yui Hasegawa turned the match on its head for Andree Jeglertz, who collected his first three points since being appointed head coach in the summer, after England international Fran Kirby had put the visitors ahead early in the first half.

Kirby's strike after 14 minutes, turned home from Rachel McLauchlan's pass after Michelle Agyemang's shot had been beaten away by goalkeeper Khiara Keating, put Brighton ahead against the side that finished fourth last season.

City had been beaten 2-1 away at champions Chelsea on the opening weekend and their difficult start to the campaign looked like extending until a second-half fightback.

First, Leila Ouahabi sent over a wonderful cross that was met by the head of Shaw, arriving at the back post to nod the ball beyond Chiamaka Nnadozie, though the goalkeeper might be disappointed with her efforts to keep it out.

The winner arrived 16 minutes from time. Aoba Fujino played a fine ball in behind for her Japan international teammate Hasegawa to dart on to before slotting low into the corner to give her side the lead for the first time this campaign.

Keating then put the result in jeopardy with a careless clearance that struck Kiko Seike as she closed down the goalkeeper, who was fortunate to see the ball deflect away to safety.
