Atletico earn third straight LaLiga win with 3-0 win over Sevilla

Atletico Madrid earned a third straight LaLiga win after beating Sevilla 3-0.

Julian Alvarez's penalty alongside goals from Thiago Almada and Antoine Griezmann, all in the second half, kept Atletico fourth in the standings and handed Sevilla a third straight LaLiga defeat.

Isaac Romero had an early effort fly wide for Sevilla before Atletico came close when Álex Baena floated a cross in towards José María Giménez, who nodded wide.

Alvarez and Alexander Sorloth were then denied in quick succession by some solid Sevilla defending before the visitors came close at the opposite end through Ruben Vargas.

Odysseas Vlachodimos was called into action to deny Sorloth's strike with a fantastic save on the half-hour mark.

Nico González rattled the post and the midfielder came close again on the cusp of half-time, forcing Vlachodimos into a low save.

Alvarez had an excellent opportunity after the break but could only head wide, and at the other end Djibril Sow and Isaac Romero missed the target.

Atletico were awarded a penalty following a VAR review when Tanguy Nianzou fouled Gimenez and Alvarez stepped up to the spot, coolly converting in the 64th minute.

Almada doubled Atletico's advantage in the 77th minute after firing low from Giuliano Simeone's pass across the box.

Griezmann then wrapped up the game in the 90th minute with a cool finish into the bottom left corner.
