Ten-man Atlético Madrid were frustrated in their bid to build on their recent five-goal rout of city rivals Real Madrid as they were held to a 1-1 draw at lowly Celta Vigo.

Having also hit five in the Champions League against Eintracht Frankfurt last week, Diego Simeone's side found Celta, still the only winless side in LaLiga this season, much tougher to crack.

An early own goal from Carl Starfelt gifted Atletico a dream start but Clément Lenglet was sent off for two bookable offences and Iago Aspas levelled midway through the second half.

Starfelt's sixth-minute strike past his own keeper at the end of a swift Atletico counter-attack looked to set the visitors up for another comfortable night.

Dávid Hancko almost made it two on the half-hour when his powerful drive was well saved by Celta keeper Ionut Radu, and the hosts went on to capitalise after Lenglet's careless dismissal just before the break.

Celta responded on 68 minutes when Borja Iglesias' shot from close range was blocked by Atletico keeper Jan Oblak, but Iago pounced to stuff home the rebound and haul Celta level.

Robin Le Normand flashed a headed just wide for Atletico on 72 minutes but Celta looked more likely to grab a winner with Oblak forced into another save to deny Bryan Zaragoza, before Zaragoza, Damián Rodríguez and Pablo Durán all missed the target in injury time.

Their point hauls Atletico up to fifth place in the LaLiga table while Celta clamber to 16th despite remaining winless in their first eight games.
