Hamza Igamane's late goal sees Rangers stun Celtic in Old Firm Derby
Hamza Igamane's stunning 88th-minute strike earned Rangers an unlikely 3-2 victory in a topsy-turvy Old Firm clash at Celtic Park on Sunday.
Rangers' late win, which marked Celtic's first home league defeat this season, left Brendan Rodgers' side 13 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premier League table.
"Obviously happy to get the result. We had a really good first half and maybe sat off a bit much second half," Rangers captain James Tavernier told Sky Sports.
"Delighted to get the three points. It's been a good week for the club. We showed resilience, we were brave on the ball and took our chances. We were clinical.
"With the character we've shown in the past few weeks, we had belief to the end and Hamza pulls off a great goal. Delighted for the boys."
The visitors took the lead inside the first five minutes after Rangers' diminutive midfielder Nico Raskin rose above Jeffrey Schlupp to nod Tavernier's corner past Celtic goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.
Rangers were good value for their early lead but had Jack Butland to thank for keeping them in front when he stretched to keep out Reo Hatate's curling effort.
Schmeichel almost gifted Rangers their second, but Václav Cerný failed to take advantage after he intercepted the Denmark international's wayward pass in the 15th minute. Cerny's decision to dribble around Schmeichel with just the goalkeeper to beat pushed him wide and allowed Maik Nawrocki to clear as he tried to square to a teammate in the six-yard box.
The defensive blunder was indicative of Celtic's disjointed first-half performance and they faced a mountain to climb after Mohamed Diomande doubled their arch-rivals' lead with a smart finish into the bottom corner that sent the away fans into rapture.
But Celtic rallied shortly before the break as Jota came to life on the left wing, but it was Daizen Maeda who came closest to halving the deficit when his goal-bound header was kept out by a stunning intervention from Dujon Sterling under his own crossbar.
It took Maeda just three minutes to get on the scoresheet after the interval, though, as he nodded Jota's cross past Butland.
Maede's goal provided the lift Celtic Park needed and put the hosts in control of the contest.
Celtic brought themselves level with 16 minutes of normal time remaining after Hatate's run behind the Rangers back line was found by Luke McCowan, allowing the Japan international to roll a low shot into the bottom corner.
But the topsy-turvy clash had one more twist up its sleeve. Just as it seemed Celtic would force a late winner, Rangers forward Igamane riflled a bobbling ball into the roof of the net from the edge of the area with two minutes of normal time remaining.
Igamane's goal was one the Celtic defence will not want to see again. First Celtic captain Cameron Carter-Vickers missed his clearing header before the covering Alistair Johnston lost his footing, allowing Igamane to drive towards Schmeichel's goal before cutting back and arrowing a shot into the top corner.
The late drama sent the Rangers bench sprinting onto the pitch, with head coach Barry Ferguson celebrating his first Old Firm derby win by picking up and kissing the match ball.
