The Kansas City Current beat the host Chicago Red Stars 3-1 at SeatGeek Stadium on Sunday to set the NWSL regular-season record for team goals with 57. The Current broke the record of 54 by the North Carolina Courage (2019).

Michelle Cooper opened the scoring for the Current in the 23rd minute with an assist from Nichelle Prince.

Debinha added a second goal for Kansas City (16-7-3) just three minutes after Cooper's opener, with Vanessa DiBernardo providing the assist. Prince then made it 3-0 in favor of Kansas City with a right-footed shot from the center of the box in the 33rd minute.

Chicago (10-14-2) managed to pull one back early in the second half when Ally Schlegel found the net with a right-footed shot from close range, assisted by Shea Groom. Despite the Red Stars' best efforts, including shots on goal by Jameese Joseph and Chardonnay Curran, they were unable to further reduce Kansas City's lead.

Alyssa Naeher made three saves for Chicago.

For Kansas City, Almuth Schult had three saves. Her teammates contributed by blocking several late attempts from Chicago.

The No. 4 seed Current will face the No. 5 seed Courage in the opening round of the NWSL playoffs.
