Olivieri powers Dash past Wave
Bárbara Olivieri scored a goal and assisted on another to lift the Houston Dash to a 2-0 victory over the San Diego Wave at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego on Sunday.
Olivieri opened the scoring in the 30th minute with a penalty kick after Naomi Girma of San Diego was shown a yellow card for a foul in the penalty area. Ramona Bachmann doubled the lead for Houston (5-5-14) in the 72nd minute with a left-footed shot from the center of the box, assisted by Olivieri.
Despite several attempts from San Diego players such as Jaedyn Shaw and Mya Jones, the Wave (5-7-12) were unable to beat Houston goalie Jane Campbell, who made three saves.
San Diego goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan made two saves but conceded both goals.
