Lynn Williams' early goal lifts Gotham FC over Houston Dash
Lynn Williams scored in the eighth minute to lead NJ/NY Gotham FC to a 1-0 victory over the Houston Dash at Shell Energy Stadium on Wednesday.
Williams found the back of the net with a right-footed shot from close range following an attempt from teammate Emma Stevens in the same minute that was saved by Houston's goalkeeper, Jane Campbell.
Houston had its chances but couldn't capitalize. Gotham goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger stopped an early attempt by Houston's Diana Ordóñez in the fifth minute. Later, Sophie Schmidt saw her right-footed shot saved in the bottom right corner by Berger in the 82nd minute.
