Tyler Lussi tucks home to cut the deficit for the North Carolina Courage to 1 goal.


Claire Emslie scored two goals for Angel City FC as they beat the North Carolina Courage 2-1 on Sunday at BMO Stadium.

Emslie's first goal came from a free kick in the 14th minute, and she doubled her tally early in the second half with a right-footed shot from outside the box.

Alyssa Thompson assisted on Emslie's second goal and consistently threatened down the right flank. Goalkeeper DiDi Haracic made several crucial saves to maintain her team's lead.

Kaleigh Kurtz received an early yellow card for a foul that led to Emslie's opening goal from a free kick. 

The Courage were unable to capitalize on chances until late in the game, when Tyler Lussi scored on a set piece to make it 2-1.
