North Carolina Courage edge out Gotham FC 1-0

Brianna Pinto scored the lone goal of the match in the first half, and the North Carolina Courage escaped with a 1-0 victory over NJ/NY Gotham FC on Saturday at WakeMed Soccer Park.

Pinto netted her goal in the 44th minute with a right-footed shot from close range as assisted by Ashley Sanchez.

North Carolina goalkeeper Casey Murphy kept a clean sheet with several crucial saves. Defenders Malia Berkely and Kaleigh Kurtz were solid at the back, each making key tackles and interceptions to thwart Gotham's attacks.

Gotham had their chances but failed to capitalize. Esther González led their attack with multiple attempts on goal, including two second-half shots that were blocked by Murphy.
