Kansas City Current edge San Diego Wave FC 2-1

The Kansas City Current defeated the San Diego Wave FC with a final score of 2-1 at Snapdragon Stadium on Saturday. Lo'eau LaBonta scored the game winner in the 71st minute for the Current, converting a penalty for the goal.

Sofia Jakobsson got the Wave (1-1-0) on the board first with a left-footed shot following a corner kick in the 17th minute.

Izzy Rodriguez scored an equalizer for the Current late in the first half with a left-footed shot from inside the box.

For Kansas City (2-0-0), the key moment came when Christen Westphal was called for a foul on Bia Zaneratto inside the box. Following VAR confirmation, LaBonta scored the deciding goal.
