Chelsea's Estêvão scores first goal for Brazil in Chile win
Chelsea forward Estêvão scored his first goal for Brazil in a 3-0 win over Chile in South American World Cup qualifying.
Lucas Paquetá and Bruno Guimarães were also on target as Brazil rose to second place in qualifying with just Wednesday's trip to Bolivia remaining.
The hosts dominated possession against the bottom team in South American World Cup qualifying, but had to wait until the final 20 minutes before wrapping up victory.
Manchester United midfielder Casemiro thought he had headed Brazil in front after just five minutes, only for an offside flag to cut short celebrations.
They continued to press, but had to wait until the 38th minute to take the lead with an acrobatic effort from Chelsea's Estêvão after Raphina's original effort was blocked.
"I've always dreamed of scoring my first goal for the national team, at the Maracanã, since I was a child," the 18-year-old forward said.
"I dedicate it to my family who are in London. We always come here and try our best to bring joy to the fans. "I was a huge fan of the national team, and playing today is a dream. I thank God, and now I just have to keep working to stay here, which is my dream.
"We played a great game, we managed to extend our lead. We can improve, we know that. We leave with a very positive feeling."
Chilean defender Guillermo Maripán was shown a red card before the break for a reckless challenge, but it was downgraded to a yellow after a VAR review.
West Ham midfielder Paqueta, who on Wednesday learned the Football Association would not be appealing an independent commission's decision to clear him of four charges of spot-fixing, came on as a substitute after 71 minutes and doubled the advantage within a minute.
A counter attack ended with Luiz Henrique crossing for Paqueta to head home, Newcastle's Guimaraes rolling the ball into an empty net four minutes later after Henrique's effort had been turned onto the bar.
