Goals from Mewis alongside Caroline Weir and Ellen White secured all three points for Man City in a 3-0 thumping.
Mewis, 28, scored in the 89th minute via a header. Her late strike means she has scored five goals in her last five appearances, three of those coming via headers.
Fellow USWNT internationals Abby Dahlkemper also featured for Gareth Taylor's side, with Rose Lavelle coming on as a second half substitute.
Mewis' late strike puts City two points behind league leaders Chelsea, who beat Everton 3-0 away from home.
