St Mirren secure Petrofac Training Cup semi-final berth with Dunfermline rout
St Mirren brushed aside Dunfermline 4-0 on the back of a clinical first-half performance to reach the Petrofac Training Cup semi-finals.Three of Saints' goals were scored in the opening 37 minutes, with Calum Gallagher, Scott Agnew and Stephen Mallan the men on the scoresheet. Mallan then notched his second with two minutes to go to wrap up a one-sided win.The hosts were without a victory in their last six matches at St Mirren Park but they put that poor run to bed in style, with Gallagher volleying in Cameron Howieson's fine cross to open the scoring in the 10th minute.Mallan doubled the lead 13 minutes later after Gallagher had capitalised on a mistake by Ben Richards-Everton, and it became 3-0 when Mallan and Keith Watson combined to set up Agnew to slot home.St Mirren substitute Lewis McLear headed against the bar late on as the home side sought a fourth, which arrived when Mallan crashed his shot past Sean Murdoch.
