Independiente were disqualified from the Copa Sudamericana after violent clashes involving fans at their stadium in a match against the Universidad de Chile last month, CONMEBOL said Thursday.

More than 100 fans were arrested after violence erupted in the stands during a Copa Sudamericana match between Independiente and Universidad de Chile.

The second leg of the Copa Sudamericana Round of 16 match between Independiente and Universidad de Chile was abandoned on Wednesday due to an outbreak of violent fans clashes.
