The NWSL announced on Wednesday that it will not play games next June for the start of the 2026 World Cup, which will be predominantly played in the United States.

USWNT head coach Emma Hayes said she "feel[s] like we're entering the next phase" as she narrows her player pool ahead of the 2027 Women's World Cup.
