Atlas
New York's playoff probability with a win is 99%, while its chances are 91% with a loss, per the PLL.
The Atlas have two former MVPs on the roster (Trevor Baptiste in 2022 and Jeff Teat in 2024), and might have a third after this season in Connor Shellenberger, who leads the team in points (14 goals, 11 assists).
Redwoods
California's playoff chances rise to 79% with a win but fall to 48% with a loss.
We all know Chris Kavanagh can score goals, but he is also tied for the league lead in two-point assists this season, with two.
Utah Archers (2-4) vs. Carolina Chaos (3-3)
Friday, 9 p.m. ET | ESPN2/ESPN+
Injury report:
Archers: A Mac O'Keefe questionable, A Matt Moore injured reserve, A Devon McLane out, FO Mike Sisselberger injured reserve
Chaos: M Chris Aslanian injured reserve, M Shane Knobloch injured reserve
Archers
Utah can raise its playoff probability to 81% with a win over Carolina, but those chances drop to 44% with a loss, per the PLL.
Tom Schreiber is already making headway on the PLL's all-time goals list; he has 201 heading into the weekend, and with one more he'll tie Kevin Buchanan for 21st on the list.
Chaos
Carolina's playoff chances rise to 94% with a win, but a loss drops those chances to 62%.
Rookie attackmen Owen Hiltz and Jackson Richer have been splitting quarters for the Chaos, due in large part to their dominant-handedness. Hiltz has 19 left-handed shots and zero right-handed shots, while Eicher has 36 right-handed shots and zero left-handed shots this season.
Ross Scott scores a nice goal for the Chaos.
Boston Cannons (3-3) vs. Denver Outlaws (4-2)
Saturday, 3 p.m. ET | ABC/ESPN+
Injury report:
Cannons: SSDM Bubba Fairman injured reserve
Outlaws: SSDM Alexander Smith out
Cannons
This is a pivotal game for the Cannons; with a win, their playoff chances rise to 81%, but a loss drops those chances to 55% per the PLL.
Week 8 is the first week in action for Jules Heningburg with the Cannons, after he was signed last week. Heningburg was cut by the Chaos at training camp but is a four-time All-Star with 144 career points.
Outlaws
The Outlaws appear to be playoff-bound; their chances will be 99% with a victory over Boston but fall to ... 98% with a loss. In fact, if California and Utah both lose on Friday, Denver can clinch a spot with a win.
Pat Kavanagh has taken flight after being traded to Denver from Boston in the offseason. Through six games, his 23 points are tied for third in the league, his 15 goals are first, and his 270 touches are also first.
Jared Bernhardt scores a goal for the Outlaws against the Whipsnakes.
Maryland Whipsnakes (2-4) vs. Philadelphia Waterdogs (4-2)
Saturday, 8 p.m. ET | ESPN+
Injury report:
Whipsnakes: A TJ Malone questionable, M Tucker Dordevic injured reserve, M Ryan Conrad out
Waterdogs: A CJ Kirst questionable, D Liam Byrnes out, A Zed Williams out
Whipsnakes
Maryland isn't totally out of the playoff hunt yet. With a win, its chances rise to 65%, but a loss would drop them to 30%.
Brad Smith is a driver of the Whipsnakes' offense, and is currently tied for the league lead in second assists (four) with Marcus Holman.
Waterdogs
A win would go a long way for the Waterdogs' playoff chances. With a victory their probability rises to 99%; with a loss, they drop to 81%.
No. 1 pick CJ Kirst was activated off the PUP list this week and is expected to make his debut. "He's everything you'd want in a teammate," Waterdogs coach/GM Bill Tierney told ESPN's Tim Kavanagh this week.
