The California Redwoods surged to a 16-10 victory over the Carolina Chaos on Saturday night, overcoming an early deficit in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The Chaos jumped to a 4-0 lead in the first quarter, but the Redwoods responded with a record-breaking offensive performance, scoring nine points in the second period and finishing with a PLL-record 58 shots.
Dylan Molloy led the charge for California (2-0), tallying five points on three goals (including one 2-pointer) and an assist. Ryder Garnsey added three goals and an assist while Chris Kavanagh contributed three points including two dazzling goals -- one of which was scored between his legs. Andrew McAdorey also had three goals and an assist. Goalie Chayse Ierlan made nine saves.
For Carolina (1-2), Adam Charalambides paced the offense with four one-point goals while Jarrod Neumann showcased his range by netting two long-range 2-pointers. Jackson Eicher and Cross Ferrara each scored a goal, while Garrett Degnon, Gannon Matthews and Patrick Resch chipped in one assist apiece for the Chaos.
