Zed Williams scored all five of his goals in the first half as the Maryland Whipsnakes edged out the Boston Cannons 16-14 at Baltimore's Homewood Field on Sunday.
TJ Malone dished out four assists and added a goal of his own for Maryland (5-4), while goalie Brendan Krebs finished with nine saves.
The game started strongly for the Whipsnakes as they built an early lead thanks to Williams' offensive prowess, going up 8-3 after the first quarter and taking a 14-6 lead into halftime.
For Boston (6-3), Connor Kirst posted three goals. His three points were matched by Asher Nolting, Pat Kavanagh and Chris Aslanian. Goalie Colin Kirst registered 14 saves.
