Figure skater Nathan Chen may be America's best chance at grabbing a gold medal in the Men's Figure Skating individual competition at the Winter Olympics. Known as the "Quad King" for his impressive quadruple jumps, Chen hopes to improve on his 2018 outing at the Pyeongchang Winter Games, where he placed fifth in individuals and earned bronze in the team events.

The 22-year-old Utah native is entering Beijing on a roll. He won his sixth consecutive U.S. figure skating championship in January. Per ESPN Stats and Information, that hasn't been done since Richard Burton, who won seven straight from 1946 to 1952.

Here are some numbers to get you acquainted with Chen and his skills on the ice:

3: According to Chen's website, he began skating at the age of three after watching his two older brothers play hockey. In 2003, Chen entered his first skating competition.

Three is also the number of World Championships Chen has won in his skating career thus far (2017, 2018 and 2021). In addition, he won three straight Grand Prix Final championships from 2017 to 2019.

6: Chen also partook in ballet during his youth. He started at six and did it until he was 14, per Pointe. He attended the Ballet West Academy in Salt Lake City, where he was involved in performances like "Sleeping Beauty" and "The Nutcracker." He said that experience has helped him on the ice.

"My training and ballet background definitely gives me the competitive edge," Chen told an NBC news correspondent in 2017.

6: This is the number of times Chen landed a quadruple jump during his free-skate routine in the 2018 Winter Games, an Olympic record. The exquisite run by the then-18-year-old helped him win that portion of the competition and boosted him to the aforementioned fifth-place finish.

7: If Chen can secure a gold medal in individual skating, he would become the seventh American man to do so. He would be the first since Evan Lysacek accomplished the feat in the 2010 Vancouver Games.

4.0: Not only is Chen an exceptional skater, but he is also a great student. He is a statistics and data science major at Yale University and was on track to earn a 4.0 GPA for the spring semester before taking a break from college to focus on the 2022 Winter Olympics.

15 and 3: Chen's potential success at the Winter Games could end a dry spell for American men's figure skating. Although they have 15 gold medals -- more than double the next closest team in Olympic history (Sweden with seven) -- only three of those have come in the past 30 years.
