"It's awesome to bring in a son to add to my family and everything went great and everything went smooth,'' Mahomes said, "Brittany's a champ, so it's been really cool.''
The 9-2 Chiefs will travel to face the 7-4 Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday in a rematch of last year's AFC Championship Game the the Bengals won, 27-24, in overtime.
The Mahomes have a daughter, Sterling, who was born in February 2021.
Mahomes explained his son's nickname.
"I've always wanted to do Patrick Lavon Mahomes III,'' said Mahomes, who was named Patrick for his father, a former major league pitcher. "I've thought about that since I was literally like five, six years old and I always thought it was gonna be Trey as the third because you hear a lot of people doing that."
"My brother, Jackson, whenever we were trying to find something that was a little unique and different, he said, 'What about Bronze?' It fits perfectly with Sterling. So we went with that and I think it works out well and he can have his own thing now where he is not Patrick, he's Bronze, even though he is Patrick and then Sterling and Bronze can have that connection moving forward.''
