Letroy Guion completes suspension appeal hearing, still waiting on ruling

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Green Bay Packers defensive tackle Letroy Guion completed his appeals hearing Monday on the three-game suspension following his offseason arrest, according to a source, but no ruling was made.

A decision is expected before the Packers have to make their final roster cuts on Sept. 5.

The NFL informed Guion of his suspension in late July, shortly before the start of training camp. The 28-year-old Guion told ESPN recently that he would not comment on the suspension until a ruling was made on his appeal.

The NFL does not announce suspensions until after the appeals process has been completed.

The Packers and Guion were prepared for a suspension following his February arrest on charges of possession of marijuana and a firearm, but they were hoping it would be for only a game or two after Guion paid a $5,000 fine in a plea deal to avoid prosecution.

At this point, it appears the Packers will be without two defensive linemen to start the season after defensive end Datone Jones was suspended one game for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy.

Tight end Andrew Quarless also could be suspended following his offseason arrest in Florida for discharging a firearm in public, but no discipline has been handed down yet. A pretrial hearing originally scheduled for Monday has been postponed until Sept. 21, according to court records.
