News: 4 days agoBrown, who was placed on injured reserve Friday and is slated to undergo surgery to repair his shoulder, is unlikely to play during the regular season, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Spin: The language coming out of Kansas City, both from head coach Andy Reid and Vice President of Sports Medicine and Performance Rick Burkholder, suggested this timeline could be a possibility. While the report leaves open that Brown could rejoin the team in the postseason, it seems as if the speedy wide receiver will be largely unavailable for fantasy managers in 2024.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: The most accomplished deep-threat receiver the Chiefs have signed since Tyreek Hill departed, Brown brings the worry of his having been a near-total flop in his two years in Arizona but also the tantalizing upside of a weekly fantasy WR2. Brown never clicked with Kliff Kingsbury's offensive system in 2022 and was held back by injury (foot) and poor quarterback play in 2023, but he also had seven touchdowns of 40 yards or greater during his three seasons in Baltimore (2019-21), third best in the league. Having one of the game's best quarterbacks, Patrick Mahomes, should help fuel a rebound for Brown, but be forewarned that, due to his probable role and with the speedy Xavier Worthy also now on the roster, Brown will likely be a boom-or-bust type. Brown is expected to miss a game or three to open the season due to injury.
