News: 6 days agoPrescott completed 38 of 52 passes for 361 yards and two touchdowns with one interception in Sunday's 40-37 overtime win over the Giants. He added 17 rushing yards on three carries.

Spin: It was Prescott's highest yardage total since Week 3 of last season, when he fired up 379 yards in a loss to the Ravens. The veteran QB rebounded in a big way from a quiet Week 1 effort, but the Cowboys' defensive issues may require him to continue putting the ball in the air a lot more often than expected. Prescott could be poised for another big performance in Week 3 against a Bears defense that just got torched for five passing TDs by Jared Goff and the Lions.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Prescott returns for his age-32 campaign following a disappointing and injury-shortened 2024. In eight games, Prescott totaled 11 TDs and eight INTs through the air and wasn't much of a factor with his legs (career-low 54 yards). He averaged 14.6 fantasy PPG (16.8 in the six games he played in full), which was a far cry from the 20.2 (fifth highest) he averaged in 2023. Prescott has now missed multiple games in three of the past five seasons, though he has also been a top-8 fantasy QB (PPG) three times during the span. Adding George Pickens to a supporting cast that also includes CeeDee Lamb and Jake Ferguson is helpful, but because of the concerning dip in rushing, the 10-year vet is best viewed as fringe QB1.
