Houston Texans: A-
Devin McCourty was the marquee name at safety on the open market, but the next-best thing may be Rahim Moore. He was always likely to fly under the radar because of what he is remembered by most for -- Moore was the player that misjudged a deep pass from Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco in the playoffs, allowing a huge reception and in effect handing the game to Baltimore. It was a horrible, horrible play, but it shouldn't define his career.
Before that play Moore had been having a fine season, allowing just one touchdown all year. This season his form wasn't quite as good, but he was working back from a medical condition that almost cost him his leg.
Moore is one of the few safeties in the league with the range to play that deep center field and execute the Earl Thomas role that has become so appealing to teams -- and necessary to sides wanting to play Cover 3 defense. At just 25, there is still plenty of untapped potential and he should represent an upgrade over the safety play Houston had in 2014. At worst this deal is a nice move, but it has the potential to be so much more.
