Prince Amukamara cleared, practices

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The New York Giants got much-needed positive injury news Friday when cornerback Prince Amukamara was cleared from a concussion and went through a full practice.

Amukamara is officially listed as questionable, but coach Tom Coughlin said the starting corner will play Sunday against the Broncos, barring an unforeseen setback.

Safety Antrel Rolle is also listed as questionable after being a late addition to the injury report, but Coughlin expects him to play.

Amukamara practiced for the first time Friday since suffering a concussion after being inadvertently hit by teammate Ryan Mundy on Sunday night during the Giants' season-opening loss at Dallas.

"I think that was my second one," Amukamara said of the head injuries he has suffered before. "I ran into a basketball pole [when] I was about 10. That one knocked me out.

"This one wasn't like that. I saw a couple of flashes. Everyone said it looked like I caught the Holy Ghost because my arms were out. It is definitely a scary feeling."

Amukamara, who said he is symptom-free, has been participating in team meetings and watching film and is mentally ready to face Peyton Manning.

"You want to have all your key weapons," Rolle said, "and we all know Prince is an asset to this defense. He has come along great so far and has played outstanding for us, and we look forward to continuing that."

Rolle experienced soreness in his groin during Thursday's practice and did not practice Friday as a precautionary measure. He said he will play Sunday.

"I'll be all right," said Rolle, who typically plays through injuries. "I'll play come Sunday. Just more precautionary. Better to be smart. Sunday is the most important thing."

The Giants will also have center David Baas for the Broncos game. Baas will make his season debut after injuring his left MCL in the second preseason game against Indianapolis. He went through a full practice and is listed as probable.

Backup running back Da'Rel Scott, who tweaked his knee in practice Wednesday, is listed as probable.

Rookie defensive end Damontre Moore (shoulder) is questionable. Linebacker Dan Connor, who was placed on injured reserve Thursday with a neck injury, tackle David Diehl (thumb) and tight end Adrien Robinson (foot) are out for the game.
